His paintings are meant to reference the painterly gesture, emotion, and the experience of colour. He would apply thick layers of colours in washes, scrubbing the unprimed canvas. A friend of Clement Greenberg, Dzubass work was included in Greenbergs exhibition Talent 1950 at the Kootz Gallery and in the 1964 exhibition Post Painterly Abstraction.'
