Sir Anthony Caro (British 19242013) was a modern sculptor known for his sculptures which combined assemblages and found industrial objects. He met Clement Greenberg in 1960, who told the artist to begin to weld his artworks. Soon thereafter, Caro traveled to the United States where he was introduced to Kenneth Noland, Robert Motherwell, and Frankenthaler which would influence his later work. Catalan Tap-Dance is part of the artists Table Piece series, inspired by the gateways and doorframes in Spain.'
